Creating an automation in the new builder!

Pluga is designed so that anyone - whether familiar with technology or not - can create automations easily and quickly.

It's important to consider that Pluga functions as a data bridge, capturing information from the source app and sending it to the destination(s). And for you to successfully create your automation, you must have an account on all the apps you want to integrate. Learn more about Pluga here.

Step by Step: How to create an integration on Pluga

To create an integration on Pluga, you will go through 4 stages. They are:

  1. Connecting the source app
  2. Connecting the destination app
  3. Mapping your automation (and customizing information)
  4. Finalizing your automation or connecting a new destination app

Below are each of these steps in more detail.

Step 1: Connecting the source app

  1. Select the app and the trigger for your automation
Click on "Create automation" to access the builder and select your source app and the trigger that should dispatch the data, then click on "Continue".

Once you advance in this step, the construction of your data flow in the left sidebar of your screen will start. It will help you identify which apps and actions have been set up, and their order:

  2. Make sure everything is correct

In the next step, depending on the app you are integrating, there may be a screen with some guidance about your account to ensure successful authentication. Something like this:

Once everything is correct, click on "Continue".

  3. Connect your account!

Now is the time to authenticate your source app's account - and this authentication greatly depends on each app.

In some cases, simply log in to the window that will open. In others, you need to retrieve tokens or configure a Pluga URL in the app. But, don't worry because in all cases we provide a detailed tutorial on what needs to be done!

Don't forget to name this connection and then click on "Confirm":

  4. Adjust the settings of your app.

Now you will define some data capture criteria from your source app and this setup will also depend on your app.

If you have questions about any of these fields, just hover over this "i" and we'll explain about:

With everything set up, click on "Continue" and that's it! You will see a message indicating that your source app has been successfully connected.

Now click on "Connect new app" to continue creating your automation!

Step 2: Connecting the destination app

  1. Select the app and the action to be performed

Here you will choose the first app that will receive information from your source app and which action will be executed. Once done, click on "Continue".

By clicking on "Continue" you will see the flow growing in the sidebar, indicating the app and the action that will be executed:

  2. Connect your destination app's account

Authenticate your second app following the step-by-step guide and don't forget to name it. Then, just click on "Continue":

Step 3: Mapping your automation (and customizing information)

Define which information will be sent from one app to another

We've reached the mapping of your automation, where you define the “From ➡️ To” of the data.

That is, in this step, you will configure which information from the source app will be sent to each of the fields of the destination app.

To do this, click on the field or on "Insert infos" and configure as you prefer.

It is essential that you properly configure the fields with the information that makes sense in each of them. For example, an email field expects to receive information of an email address. If other information is entered in its place, the processing of the event will fail.

💡Tip! Use the search field to find the information you want faster:

An important aspect of mapping is that you can either [1] send information dynamically, according to what is filled in the source app; or [2] send fixed information, which will be sent for all processed events, by typing the information directly in the field.

Your mapping should look similar to the one in the image:

Considering dynamic and fixed information:
  • The "Email" field is configured to receive dynamic information because the attribute (1.email) from the app is selected;
  • The "Event Name" field is set to receive fixed information, as the information (conversion_enterprise) was typed directly into the field;
  • The "Name" field is configured to receive dynamic information because the attribute (1.full_name) from the app is selected.

If you have questions about these fields, you can also refer to the “i” to learn more about each of them:

Custom Fields and Information

In the list of infos from your source app, under "Insert infos", you may find some information marked with a star (⭐) beside it. They indicate that these are fields created in a customized manner in your source app.

Additionally, in the mapping itself, you may also encounter some yellow fields with a ⭐ at the beginning. These are the customized fields of your destination app, that is, the one that will receive the information:

⚠️ These are the customized fields that already exist in your source or destination apps. In other words, for the fields to appear, you must have already created them in their respective apps. Thus, they are reflected here in the mapping.

👀 Curiosity!

Some mapping fields allow for mathematical operations!

This icon indicates which fields allow these operations:

With this, in the numerical fields of amount or date it is possible to use the mathematical signs (+, -, /, *) to perform the operations you desire.

Once you've configured all the fields as you wish, just go to the end of the page, click on "Continue" and voila! The first action of your automation has been configured.

Step 4: Finalizing your automation or connecting a new destination app

At this point, you can take two paths:

  • Connect a new app

By clicking on "Connect new app", you can define more actions in your automation and thus create an increasingly complete flow with more executions.

  • Finalize your automation

After finalizing your automated flow, you can click on "Finalize automation" to begin processing your events.

Attention

When you finalize your automation, it will start to process new information that triggers the event in the source app. In this condition, you will not be able to insert or remove steps, as well as some other settings.

Having finalized your automation, you will see a warning about the event processing time. This one:

And on the "My Automations" screen you can identify which automations have been finalized or which are still drafts through the indicator "Activated", which is different from "Draft". See:

⚠️ Important! For your automation to start functioning, it is essential that it be activated.
