How to generate your OpenRouter API Key (step by step)
Step 1: Create or access your account
Go to the official OpenRouter website: https://openrouter.ai/
- If you already have an account, go to the bottom of the modal and click "Sign in" to log in
- If it's your first time, create your account by clicking "Create your account"
Step 2: Open the API Keys section
After logging in, navigate to the API Keys area using one of the options below:
- Click the "Get API Key" button on the homepage
or - On the left sidebar, go to "Settings" → "API Keys"
Step 3: Create a new key
On the API Keys page, click the "Create" button.
Step 4: Configure your key
Fill in the details for your new key and confirm the creation.
- Enter a name for the key (e.g., Pluga)
- (Optional) Set a credit limit
- Click the blue "Create" button
Step 5: Copy and use it in Pluga
Copy the generated key and paste it into Pluga to connect your OpenRouter integration.
